Kalaia Celebrates 5 Years

We're celebrating 5 years!

As we reflect on the past 5 years, we're blown away and humbled by the tremendous support and growth that we've experience here at Kalaia.

Our founder, Gaya Samarasingha, started Kalaia with the goal of empowering women around the world through our clean-beauty initiative and Kalaia Cares, our philanthropic program that provides support and micro-loans to female entrepreneurs around the world.

We've come so far in those 5 years, and it's Gaya's personal story that illustrates the work-ethic and stick-to-itiveness that made Kalaia possible.

She came to the United States in 2004 with two suite cases, full of dreams, and the love of her life. She persevered through college, low-wage jobs, zero transportation, Utah winters, and the limitations that came with being in the United States on a student visa. And just when she and her husband thought they saw light at the end of the tunnel, the earth fell out from under their feet. 

Inspired by her own mother's entrepreneurial journey, Kalaia was born from Gaya recognizing a problem and working to provide a solution. Her own skincare journey and lack of clean, green skincare products that actually worked inspired her to go back to her Sri Lankan roots to utilize Ayurvedic plants and superfoods that have been used for thousands of years for skin and beauty, and to create a line of products that are clean, simple, and effective.

Over time, Kalaia has been recognized for its success by various industry publications and has expanded globally with the help of its Brand Partners that have been such a pivotal part of its success.
